Join our Emergency Medicine Team!
Trust Doctor in Emergency Medicine on 6-12 month extendable contract.
Kingston Hospital is a high performing and clinically led acute hospital providing healthcare to around 350,000 people in South West London and North West Surrey.
Our Emergency Department cares for around 110,000 patients every year. We are now looking for Trust Doctors to join our expanding team. Our department has recently attained the best outcome in South London in the GMC Trainee Survey.
The department has recently been expanded to include an extension of its Majors and Resus area as well as a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre to allow for improved patient flow and experience. The department also has a modern, 6-bedded Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) that opened in November 2016.
The service has received a significant investment in its workforce model for 2017/18 with 3.5 WTE clinical matrons, Band 6 nurses, a resuscitation team that includes paramedics and significant boost to the SAS and junior doctor ranks in anticipation of any increases in activity.
You will play an integral role in provision of quality clinical care within our Emergency Department. This will include assessing and managing critically ill patients in Resus, performing ward rounds in CDU and assessing patients in Majors. You will be given opportunities to develop a career portfolio in any clinical or non-clinical area within the Trust that interests you, including opportunities for participation in department audits, training, contributing to the department governance, involvement in simulation and research. You will also be provided with a Consultant mentor to provide supported in your development portfolio and encouraged to get through any exams that will be of benefit to your progress. Support will be provided for individuals who wish to pursue a CESR route to Consultant Level.
Basic salary will be in accordance with NHS pay scales £35,795 to £39,354 per annum, plus 1A (50%) intensity banding dependent on the Rota worked and additional London weighting. An additional 10% (of basic salary) Recruitment and Retention Premia will be offered for individuals who complete a full year of service payable as a lump sum at the end of the year. Doctors who commit to a year contract will be provided with study leave and a study budget of £600 and additional funding for a trauma related course. Annualized Rota and self-rostering can be considered in line with the departmental service requirements.
