Trust Doctor post (Locum – ST4+ equivalent) in Paediatrics
This is a 6 month trust doctor post starting at the beginning of March 2021
This post has arisen due to vacancies in the ST4+ rotation. If the candidate would prefer a shorter fixed term position, this can be negotiated.
We are looking to appoint Paediatric Trust Doctors at Registrar level with 3 posts available across Paediatrics and Neonates.
We are a dynamic, innovative and friendly Paediatric department with 21 consultants, 8 middle grades and a total of 12 SHOs: 6 on each on the General Paediatric and NNU rotas (3 GPVTS, 1 F2 and 8 Paediatric trainees). Some of these posts are rotational and successful candidates may be able to negotiate a rotation between rotas if required. The post holder will take part in a full shift rota. Sunshine Ward is a 24 bedded inpatient general paediatrics ward with an additional two high dependency beds for the sickest children. In general, there are no set visiting hours for parents whose children are inpatients. There are standard facilities for a parent who wishes to stay with their child, including a parents’ sitting room with kitchen facilities.
Dolphin Ward is an ‘ambulatory care’ area providing observation, investigations and treatment for children who do not require inpatient admission. (Opening hours: 8am to 8pm). Dolphin Ward also houses our Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) which is open 8am-12pm 7 days a week. Patients can be referred directly to PAU from A&E or GPs.
Our level 2 neonatal unit has 18 cots comprising 2 ITU, 4 HDU and 12 SCBU cots.
This is a Trust post and is therefore not recognised for Specialty Training in the KSS deanery. You will be expected to participate fully in the educational activities of the department and to take part in leadership projects - there is adequate opportunity to do so. An excellent multidisciplinary medical library and postgraduate medical center are on site.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
